Taiohae Bay and its anchorage from the air, Nuku Hiva

Our services

Help with provisioning

A short trip between the dock and your boat? It's free once a week. Beyond that, or for a planned or large request, the service is charged at the hourly rate, with a minimum per job.

Fuel at the dock

Help with manoeuvring alongside the fuel station dock, by appointment: you fill your tanks with the high-flow nozzle.

Fuel in jerrycans

Transport of fuel from the station to your boat.

Drinking water

The water in the Taiohae valley is not drinkable: we deliver drinking water from the neighbouring valleys in jerrycans, 200 litres maximum.

Emergency assistance

Engine failure at the entrance to the bay, a tricky manoeuvre, a need for a tow: we can arrange assistance.
In an emergency, contact the JRCC: VHF channel 16, or by phone on 16 or (+689) 40 54 16 16.

Waste and local rules

Waste management is a real challenge in French Polynesia, and Nuku Hiva is introducing waste sorting, which it is important to respect.

Household waste, cardboard, paper: waste collection point next to the market, 50 m from the dinghies.

Aluminium cans, metal tins, plastic bottles, glass, used oil: recycling point across the road, about 150 m from the dinghies.

A modest municipal tax funds waste treatment and the water supply: 1,050 XPF per boat per month for waste, and the same for water, whether you stay one night or thirty days. Remember to go to the town hall, preferably before 11 am, to pay it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you help with provisioning and fuel?

Yes. A small run between the dock and your boat is free once a week; beyond that, or for planned or large jobs, it is charged at the hourly rate, with a minimum charge per call-out. For fuel, we help you come alongside the fuel dock by appointment, or we carry fuel in jerry cans out to your boat.

Do you deliver drinking water?

Yes. Tap water is not drinkable in the Taiohae valley: we deliver drinking water from neighbouring valleys in jerry cans, up to 200 litres per delivery. The rate is shown on this page.

How do I dispose of rubbish in Taiohae?

Waste sorting is in place: household waste, cardboard and paper at the waste collection point next to the market; cans, metal tins, plastic bottles, glass and used oil at the recycling point across the road. A monthly council charge per boat covers waste and water: pay it at the town hall, preferably before 11 am.

What if something critical breaks at anchor just before I leave?

Contact us straight away. We give priority to critical jobs to get the boat seaworthy again: engine, bilge pump, electrical circuit. If needed, we arrange assistance or a local tow.

Who should I call in an emergency at sea?

The JRCC: on VHF channel 16, or by phone on 16 or (+689) 40 54 16 16. For an engine failure at the entrance to the bay, a tricky manoeuvre or a tow, we can also arrange assistance.
